Principal's Message

Laurelwood learners are leaders and Laurelwood leaders are learners!

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year at Laurelwood Elementary, a California Distinguished School!   On behalf of the entire staff, I am happy your family will be with us.  Laurelwood is a wonderful community school.  I am Dr. Lori Rogers, Principal. I am starting my fourth year as administrator at Laurelwood and my 33rd year in public education!  I am an Arizona native and spent 29 years working in Southern California public schools prior to joining SCUSD.

This school year, our staff will focus on four goals: mathematics with integration of coding and technology, language development for English learners, a positive school climate and writing across the curriculum. These goals are updated annually and determined by our school leadership team along with approval from School Site Council (SSC) comprised of both parents, teachers and other school staff.

This fall, upper grade teacher(s) will pilot history/social studies for future adoption by our School Board. Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Project Cornerstone (ABC parent reader program) require YOUR support and volunteer time in order for our school to continue to maintain strong programs. Each class will need one volunteer parent reader and a room parent. The Cornerstone Parent should be willing to go to training and commit to one visit per month to your child’s classroom to read the book of the month. Please consider how you might arrange your schedule to support this important character building project and our Laurelwood PTA.
