Open Enrollment

WHAT IS OPEN ENROLLMENT? The Santa Clara Unified Board of Trustees has established a policy of limited Open Enrollment. Although some of our schools are already at capacity, this policy allows families who reside within the boundaries of the district to request enrollment of their children at "any District school which may have space available for additional students." Admittance to the school of your choice under the Open Enrollment process is done by an annual random lottery system. If you applied last year and were not admitted, you will need to reapply again this year if you want to be considered for your school of choice.

WHO NEEDS TO DO THIS? Students currently enrolled in Laurelwood who do NOT wish to apply for Open Enrollment for a different elementary school do NOT need to take any action at this time. Registration for the next school year at Laurelwood will occur automatically. Only those who wish to attend a SCUSD school other than their assigned SCUSD “School of Residence” need to complete the Open Enrollment application process.
