On 9/29/09 from 630–7:30 pm we will be having our 2nd annual “Dads and Kids Pizza Night” at our school.  You will meet here at the school cafeteria at 6:30 pm for FREE pizza and drinks.  At 6:45pm we will have a presentation about our WATCH D.O.G.S.^® Program.

all students at Laurelwood!

Watch D.O.G.S.? What is it?

Laurelwood is proud to have the Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) Across America

program once again. Watch D.O.G.S. Across America is a nationally recognized non-profit program

that was started in 1998 with the goals of:

• Raising the banner of positive fathering.
• Awakening fathers to the values and benefits of committed fathering.
• Helping every school in America to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures in their children’s lives.
• Reconnecting Dads with their kids.
• Sowing the seeds of success and impacting academic performance.

What do I do?

We hope to have a Watch DOG on campus every day of the week helping in the classrooms with

language arts, math, crafts, playing with the kids at recess, eating lunch with your child, and having the

best day of your week. A single Watch DOG works in several classrooms over the course of the day

according to the schedule below. Find a day in your schedule that you can devote to your child and

Laurelwood. More than one student? With the FREE periods, you can visit up to 3 kids!!

Do I need special qualifications or a negative TB test on file to be a Watch D.O.G.?

No.

Register as a Watch DOG. Fill out and return the form at the bottom of this flyer. Indicate a day and

date that let’s you visit your child’s class. Drop off the form in the main office, give it to your child’s

teacher, or contact Dion Lo Russo.

Attend the WATCHDOGS Kickoff Meeting TBD with your child or children in the Laurelwood Cafeteria. Come hear more, get your questions answered, have some refreshments, and sign up for your Watch DOG day!

It’s a “Guy Thing”

This program is meant to be organized and managed by the men. If you enjoy the program and

working with the kids, would you consider acting as a “Top DOG”? Laurelwood will need more

Dads/Step Dads/Uncles/Grandfathers to act as the program coordinators next year.
