Principal's Message

On behalf of the Laurelwood staff, I would like to welcome everyone to the 2016-17 school year.  It is truly a privilege and an honor to serve as the  principal of Laurelwood.  Our school has an outstanding reputation, and I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful program.

In my first year at Laurelwood, I had the opportunity to get to know 689 students, their families and 60 staff members!  I enjoyed learning to dance and sing in Starting Arts, panning for gold during the fourth grade CA History Day, creating a mop cap with our fifth graders during Colonial Day, attending field trips such as the Kinder visit to the local farm and the fifth grade swim party, and practicing bus evacuations and lockdown procedures with staff and students.  I embrace opportunities to be on the playground, out front during drop off and pick up, attend field trips and special events, because I believe that's the best way to build community. Living and working in "Bird Land" (as our local community is called) is an absolute pleasure.  Laurelwood School is enrolled with enthusiastic students who are ready to learn, supportive families actively involved in their children's education, and a dedicated, professional staff committed to providing our students a high quality education in a nurturing environment.

Enjoy your summer as school will be back in session on August 17th.  Our FIRST THREE DAYS OF SCHOOL ARE EARLY DISMISSAL DAYS.  Please plan to pick up your child early those days.  Please feel free to contact any of us at Laurelwood if you would like more information. I am confident that this will be an outstanding school year and look forward to working with the staff and community to continue the Laurelwood tradition of excellence!
