Reporting Absences

The PREFERRED method for reporting your

child's absence* is to

GO TO the LW Electronic Absence Reporting Form,

complete the information, and submit the form electronically.


*If you know in advance that your child will be absent for 3 or more school days, in addition to reporting the absence as stated above, you also need to GO TO the SCUSD Absence Notification Form and submit a hard copy of the completed form to the office prior to the absence.


If the electronic form is not working for your device,

then you may call (408) 423-1605 to report your child's

absence, BUT please be sure to

speak slowly & clearly and 

provide us with the following-

*your child's full name (spell last name)

*your child's room number

*reason for their absence

*your name and relationship to the child

Attendance Reminders

School starts promptly AT 8:15 AM.  Please plan on being here before 8:10 AM.  Students may be dropped off starting at 7:55 AM.

If your child has a morning appointment, please be sure to bring a note from the doctor/dental office, so that your child's tardy can be excused.

Dogs on Campus?

No DOGS are allowed on school grounds at any time (Per Santa Clara City Ordinance #1424 Section 3-11).  Laurelwood is SCUSD property and not a public park. The city has dog parks and public parks. Dogs are not permitted off leash in Santa Clara nor Sunnyvale by city ordinance. Dogs are not allowed on school grounds at any time.

Laurelwood Calendar

Receive Important Communications From Laurelwood

In order to keep fully informed about Laurelwood, each family will need to sign up for ALL 3 of the options listed below, as each source sends you different types of school updates-

1) Accessing/Receiving Information from the SCHOOL, sign up for Laurelwood's Schoolloop-

Signing up for Laurelwood's Schoolloop is the only way to receive SCHOOL email communication with important notices and updates (Note that school email communication is SEPARATE from the PTA email communication).  

To sign up, GO TO Schoolloop Regsitration, or click on the "Register Now" box in the upper left of this web page, and select "Parent Registration" and complete.

You will only need to do this process once for each student (it carries over from year to year).

When you start receiving your School loop email updates each day, be sure to scroll down (beyond the schoolloop "trending up/down" section) in order to see the school communication updates in the "NEWS" section. The email will show as by "sender" with the subject line of "LE: Course Info and Publishing".

NEW: After registering for Schoolloop, download the free app and be able to EASILY access/see all of Laurelwood's news items from your smart device!

In an effort to save valuable resources, including money and the number of flyers that go home in Thursday Envelopes, the Laurelwood PTA will be relying on email communication with the school community.  To register for Laurelwood's PTA emails,

Kindergarten Registration for 2017-2018 School Year


Kindergarten Registration for the 2017-2018 school year began on January 17, 2017, at elementary schools throughout the District. Kindergarten registration is ongoing for new students entering the District any time after the initial enrollment period. Please register your child at your school of residence. Welcome to Laurelwood!  Many of you many be wondering what you can do to help make sure your precious little one is ready for this big step. Please GO TO the List of Things Your Child Should Know to make the beginning of kindergarten a breeze! Of course, we at Laurelwood always welcome all children and will meet them where they are and help them to get to the next step on their learning journey, but making sure your child knows these few things can help make the kindergarten experience a successful one from the very first day!

Please do NOT line up outside the Laurelwood office on the morning of January 10th, as we will NOT be making appointments in person, or be able to take any walk-ins. The Kindergarten Registration* time frame for the 2018-19 school year begins on January 10, 2018, and ends on February 7, 2018. Be sure to schedule your appointment ONLINE today!

Laurelwood Extended Day (Before & After School Care)

Online process for Free/Reduced Meal Applications


SCUSD's online Free/Reduced Meal Application process is available for all families in English as well as Spanish for the school year. 

Please submit applications for the school year AFTER July 1st or they will be invalid.

Only ONE application is needed per household and so if you apply online you do not need to fill out a paper application.   

Laurelwood Preschool

Although Laurelwood Preschool shares the same campus as Laurelwood Elementary, they are separate, UNRELATED entities. Laurelwood Preschool is a PRIVATE, non-profit, non-sectarian cooperative organization.

Open Enrollment & Registration for NEW Students for 2018-19

The Open Enrollment and NEW STUDENT Registration Period for grades TK-5th, for the 2018-2019 school year is January 10, 2018, through February 7, 2018. 


Current Laurelwood students do NOT need to take any action at this time. Registration for the 2018-2019 school year will occur automatically.


Only those students who will be NEW to Laurelwood/SCUSD in 2018-2019, OR those who wish to attend a SCUSD school other than their assigned SCUSD “Home School” need to complete NEW STUDENT Registration and/or the Open Enrollment application process.
